The Team

We are FRC team Orbit 1690 from Ort Hashomron high school located in Binyamina, Israel. Our team has started participating in the FIRST Robotics Competition on 2005, and we are now competing in our 6th season, the 2010 challenge: Breakaway. We have started our journey on year 2005, along with seven more Israeli teams, the 1st FRC season which in Israeli team has participated in the competition. In the beginning, we were a small team, composed of a few of 11th grade students. With the close assistance from our mentors Michael Postavski and Eyal Hershko, we have managed trough our rookie year. On year 2006, armed with experience and spirit, the team entered its second year on FRC. In that year, we won the Johnson & Johnson Gracious Professionalism Award who is given to the team that shows the most sportsmanship spirit and gracious professionalism during the competition and off of it. On year 2007, our team had managed to climb its way to the Israeli regional final, winning the second place. On year 2008, we have combined forces with Bet El Factory in Zichron Yaaqov, our main sponsors, which also work with us on the day to day work. Along with the Bet El community members, and our new added mentors Simcha Gershon and Yuval Katzman, we have competed and won the first place in the year ´ s Israeli Regional, and advanced to compete in the International FRC Championship in Atlanta, Georgia. At Atlanta we have won the Driving Tomorrow ´ s Technology Award sponsored by Delphi for engineering excellence, and at Israel we won the Motorola Quality Award for machine robustness. On year 2009 we have competed and won the second place in the Israeli Regional and the Rockwell Automation Innovation in Control Award, which celebrates innovative control systems. On this year our mentors were: Eyal Hershko, Michael Postavski, Simcha Gershon, Yuval Katzman and Nir Sancho. This year, year 2010, we are competing once again, on our 6th FRC season. Unlike previous years, this year our team composed not only from 11th grade students, but also from 12th grade students from the 2009 team. This year our mentors are: Michael Postavski, Ziv Popper, Ronnen Cohen, Igal Haker, Yuval Katzman and Nir Sancho. Along with our mentors, we are also working with the Bet El community, on our third year of collaboration. |
